Spring Luncheon May 21, 2024
Garden Club members attended the annual spring luncheon. This year the luncheon was held at the historic Cornell Manor, circa 1745, on Vanderveer Avenue in Holland, PA. Recently refurbished, it was the former home of Adrian Cornell, one of the many Cornell descendants who settled in Northampton Township beginning in the mid-1700s. Of Dutch heritage, the Cornells owned vast amounts of land, a portion of which is now the site of Villa Joseph Marie. Edward Hicks, a famous painter, painted the cattle farm of James Cornell, formerly situated on the Villa property. This painting, “The Cornell Farm” dates back to 1848 and hangs in the National Gallery in Washington DC.
